The Italian wine sector shows an increasing interest towards sustainability issues. As a result, a wide number of programs and initiatives concerning environmental, social and economic sustainability has been developed in recent years. The aim of this manuscript is to describe the adaptation of the Sicilian wine sector to the new scenario of sustainable productions. Internal resources as tools to increase the global competition: the Italian wine industry case

Purpose The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, it identifies distinct organizational models in a sample of small and medium enterprises operating in the Sicilian wine industry; and second, it identifies the key factors enabling a superior export success. Design/methodology/approach Internal resources were analyzed theoretically in order to achieve the aims of the study. Subsequently the empirical investigation was carried out administering a questionnaire to a sample of 102 wineries in Sicily, Italy. Abstract The subject of the previous contribution is the analysis of the financial statements of Sicilian large" wineries bottlers, with particular reference to 2020. The conditions of resistance to the pandemic phenomenon still underway were examined, the strategies implemented to counteract the reduction in turnover and the economic results from the twenty-three companies examined. In general, the companies have shown good sealing ability, despite a generalized loss in turnover of around 20%, in a positive recovery currently underway in 2021.
Mapping of Biomass Residues for Potential Energy Generation from the Wine-Growing Sector in the Provinces of Palermo and Trapani

This paper is based on results obtained during the project Vienergy (Interreg Italia-Malta programme 2007-2013) and contains data on the potential energy generation of biomass residues following pruning from vineyards located within the provinces of Trapani and Palermo. Analysis of the energy potential, following microgasification tests and heat production related to the biomass, included a preliminary mapping of vineyards in the area and an assessment of the total biomass available.
